Michael and Sara’s Fate
April 15, 2009 by Nikki Katz
As part of the conference call with Matt Olmstead yesterday, he chatted a bit about the fate of Michael and Sara, and he hopes that their ending is satisfying for all the fans!
“I’ll tell you this. It’s wrapped up unexpectedly because for a while there they were, just for like an episode or so, it felt like they were kind of Bonnie and Clyde. It worked for one episode, which is kind of coming up. It was that same fear of what do you do with two characters that there’s a real charged, fresh aspect to their relationship if they’re stuck together do they become the Lockhorns? What are they going to do after a while? That’s kind of the reason why in season three we had her character “killed” because there’s almost a disservice to the actor and the character like what are we going to do with her once they’re together because there’s always been walls between them?”
Matt continues, “So, we found a way in this season for this kind of torture that she suffered at the hands of Gretchen and company in season three off-screen that helped kind of put this new wall between her and Michael and it’s a wall that inhibits their intimacy and finally at the end of the season I can say that wall comes down, but there are unexpected ramifications to that. So, what seems like two people are joined at the hip want the same thing there’s a bunch of curve balls that are thrown at them in the finale. Ultimately it’s bittersweet, but very satisfying.”

Sarah Wayne Callies Interview
November 17, 2008 by Nikki Katz
Sarah Wayne Callies recently chatted with the Star Bulletin regarding her career, her various roles, and Prison Break.
Sarah said that it’s been great to work with the Prison Break writers because they are open to a dialogue with the actors. “They make it a real collaboration, which is such a gift because it’s not that way on every set.”
As for her particular character, Sarah says she had to fight for restraint. She felt that since Prison Break is so full of action, she wanted Dr. Sara Tancredi to be a “character who was beat-to-beat, moment-to-moment, word-to-word very believable. And very understated.”
In fact, when the writers wanted Sara and Michael to kiss, both Sarah and Wentworth Mmiller objected, saying that it was too soon! Read more

Sarah Wayne Callies on Reviving Sara Tancredi
August 30, 2008 by Nikki Katz
IGN TV recently sat down with the cast from Prison Break to chat about Season 4!! Lastly we have Sarah Wayne Callies.
Sarah talks about reviving the role of Sara Tancredi and telling her story of the trauma that she’s gone through since we last saw her. “What we learn pretty quickly is that it was horrific,” she says. “So the exploration became one that sort of skirts the edges of PTSD. It becomes a story about a woman who’s gone through extreme trauma and then is trying to figure out how to love someone and that’s a story that I think is very worth telling. I know a lot of men and women who served overseas and are serving overseas and watching them do what they need to do to survive and then come back and try and love people and try and be human again is heartbreaking and terrifying to watch. So while, obviously, in some stupid television show there’s nothing that I could possibly do that is in any way approaching their experience, to me this is a little bit about her trying to explore that and learn from that, so I can be a better a friend.”
Sarah also finds it exciting that she gets to have a chance at a do-over for her character. “I find that because of what’s happened to her during the third season, she’s a different character. And so, when you talk about it as a do-over, there is an aspect to this work in the fourth season that is a revision of things. It’s not the same character that we left. It’s someone very different. And that’s exciting to me.”

Sarah Wayne Callies on Being Sara in Prison Break Season 4
August 18, 2008 by Nikki Katz
Sarah Wayne Callies chats briefly about Prison Break, her role as Sara Tancredi, and being back at work on the show!
“It’s definitely odd from a performance standpoint,” Sarah says to theTVaddict.com. “Psychologically, my relationship to ‘Sara’ was over. But I’d never come back to a character I put away and resuscitating Sara was a very new and exciting process for me. In a way I consider it great practice because there’s a history in theatre of returning to the same character and bringing something new to the role.”
That said, being back at work is great. Sarah says that it’s a really good group of people to work with. Read more

Nick Santora - Season 3 Intentional Writing
April 4, 2008 by Nikki Katz
Nick Santora wrote a quick post discussing his pleasure regarding the positive feedback on Sara’s return. He also says that they intentionally structured some aspects of Season 3 in case Sarah Wayne Callies returned.
So I am glad people are excited about Sara coming back. If you go back thru Season 3 you’ll see that we intentionally did several things that would allow us to bring the character back if it was feasible production-wise. We saw an opportunity, the talented SWC was available and now we are going to have a fun time making a 4th season. Thanks for supporting the show. Best, Nick Santora.
