William Fichtner recently sat down to talk about his Prison Break character and the journey that Mahone has experienced.

“It’s never a one-note experience for Mahone, ever,” says Fichtner when it comes to Season 4’s storyline. “I mean, the same was true of last year when we were in Sona, you know, it was the same sort of thing of, you know, falling into the drugs and missing his family and feeling like his whole world was caving in.”

Fichtner admits to not having much of a say but he has told Matt Olmstead to keep making it challenging. “Just throw everything at me!” he says.

When it comes to the emotional toll of playing Mahone, Fichter says that if you care about your character and know what you’re doing, the pieces of the puzzle fall into place. He says that after seven or eight shows, the writer can turn to the actor and ask HIM about the character!

Fichtner agrees that Mahone is probably to set on revenge to feel grief. “Revenge is a funny thing, you know. It’s one of those emotions like jealousy, revenge. It’s so all consuming that I don’t think you can really live and function if you really let it, you know, grip you that much.” But Mahone has been around long enough and he knew that it would all come to this.

As for Mahone’s quest to kill Wyatt, Fichtner says that it’s revenge but it’s not very calculated. “It’s just a matter of time,” he says.

Spoiler TV scored some awesome footage of William Fichtner filming a scene for Prison Break Season 4.

Fichtner is dressed in a tuxedo, sunglasses, and a cap, making him look like a bellhop or limo driver of sorts. Filming takes place outside the Roosevelt Hotel.

We still haven’t had much word on whether Mahone will be on the side of Michael or The Company or whether he’ll just flip-flop back and forth some more! Who do you think Mahone will work with?

Alexander Mahone
Played by William Fichtner
Mahone is an FBI Special Agent who was put in charge of the nationwide manhunt for the Fox River escapees. He is responsible for the deaths of three of the Fox River Eight. In turn, Michael sets him up for possession of cocaine, which led to his current location within Sona. Mahone is on medication for terrors after killing another convict.

Dr. Sara Tancredi
Played by Sarah Wayne Callies
Sara was Michael’s love interest and a doctor working at Fox River State Penitentiary before becoming involved in the conspiracy behind Lincoln Burrows’ setup. Sara eventually shoots a corrupt government agent, William Kim, and Michael takes the fall for it, giving her freedom. Unfortunately, she was later captured and decapitated by Gretchen/Susan B. Anthony.

Nick’s latest entry dealing with Mahone. Wonder what Haywire will make him do next!

Mahone is seeing Haywire because the “ghosts” of what he has done have always haunted Mahone (remember Shales caused him to start taking the drugs) but Haywire was the most “paranoid” of all the people he killed (remember how Haywire acted around Michael - “It’s a maze, it’s a maze”, the guy was a nut) — so when Mahone started going through real bad withdrawal and started becoming paranoid himself, the most paranoid ghost of those he killed came back to haunt him, though he haunted him through his mind. Haywire’s personality best personified how Mahone was feeling through most of Good Fences.
