Robert Knepper Punched by Kiefer Sutherland?

July 8, 2009 by Nikki Katz

26539PCN_Transporter13.jpgRobert Knepper has revealed that he was once punched by Kiefer Sutherland, but it was all because Kiefer wanted Robert to stay in acting!

10 or 15 years ago, Kiefer used to go to the same gym as me. I remember telling him that I wanted to quit. It was before Prison Break and I couldn’t find any work and I wanted to quit.

He f**king punched me! He punched me so hard. He told me, ‘Don’t you ever give up!’ and I thank Kiefer every day for that advice.

Robert Knepper Reminisces About Prison Break

July 5, 2009 by Nikki Katz

26539PCN_Transporter13.jpgRobert Knepper chats with Digital Spy about his character and the way that Prison Break ended.

Robert reveals that he’s happy with the way the series ended. “We talked about so many different possibilities, but I thought the show was a whole as a great book-end. We all agreed that purgatory was the best end for my character. If not, there would have been a lot of people saying, ‘Oh my God - T-Bag’s out!’ I’m very happy with it, especially the reference to the pocket-grabbing thing. We actually had the same costumes from the first season, too. It was a great way to end the whole thing for me.

As for his favorite part of being a part of the show? “The humour of T-Bag. I loved being this kind of guy who attacked every frickin’ race on the planet! When I did the first episode, it wasn’t funny - he wanted to start a riot against the blacks. I was so worried when that episode aired - being in Chicago - that I would need security. I thought the black population would think I was a racist and beat me up or something! But they were the most vocal about it - they thought it was great! Any time that T-Bag got to shock the hell out of someone, those were my favourite moments.

Robert says that he never worried whether T-Bag would survive, because he wanted to be present in the moment. “I never thought ahead. I wanted to do the best job I could do. I jumped through all the hoops that you do as an actor and I signed a seven-year contract. I had a friend once who said, ‘T-Bag put the prison in Prison Break’. Once the show hit, I had a good feeling that T-Bag was gonna be in for a long ride.

So how did his tongue-flicking mannerisms come about? “I’ll tell you how that happened: it was the first part I played where I had facial hair - the crumb catcher - and it tickled me because I was just getting used to it. If you look at it from the beginning, it was really just me feeling my little whiskers! And then I kind of ran with it and it stuck.

Robert Knepper Talks ‘Heroes’ Role

July 2, 2009 by Nikki Katz

26539PCN_Transporter13.jpgRobert Knepper recently sat down with Digital Spy to talk about his upcoming role on Heroes!

He reveals that his character is like a young Keith Richards. “He’s kind of my role model for it. I don’t know what the hell I’m doing with the accent - I’m trying to put a little bit of a lilt into it. You don’t know if he’s Irish, you don’t know if he’s English… he should be all-worldly. There’s something about it that screams out British or Irish. I don’t want you to ever pinpoint where he’s from and as soon as you think you’ve got it, I’ll change it! I’m having a ball with it. It’s good to play such a crazy character. It’s kind of like a ‘I don’t care’ rock and roll look.

It’s another evil character, but Knepper says that he doesn’t play evil characters as evil. He plays them as charming! And he says he hasn’t had to kill anyone yet.

Knepper chats about a scene he filmed recently. “A couple of weeks ago, we shot this huge scene where I’m in a carnival and I’m standing next to this thing where you throw the ball and knock over the milk bottles. It’s supposed to be set in the past, like I time travel back 14 years or so into Japan, so all the actors were Japanese-American.

How long is he signed on to do the show? “Indefinitely.

SpoilerTV posted some bits of an interview with Wentworth Miller and Robert Knepper regarding the Prison Break season finale…

Wentworth chats about seeing familiar faces in the finale. “We’re glad to see them. I mean as actors you miss cast members who fall by the wayside for one reason or another and I think that the people we do get to say hello to and catch up with were, were fixtures the first season and second season, people whose presence was felt and was definitely missed after they were gone.

As for what you can expect during the series finale, Wentworth reveals, “When I think of the last episode I think there were definitely some surprises and some, some, some really electric unexpected moments. Again the show continues to surprise me in that we are a network show but we do things that you’d expect to see on cable, say, and not everyone gets a happy ending and I think some people might be taken aback by that but I think it’s also very true to the story that we’ve been telling all along. In a sense the story can only end one way and I’m really pleased that the writers and the cast and crew and everyone involved in the show have the cajones to really see it through.

Robert Knepper ‘I Think They Picked The Greatest’ Ending

April 29, 2009 by Nikki Katz

420_CowboysIndians_0062.jpgRobert Knepper opens up on T-Bag’s future, saying that he talked about it with the producers.

We talked about it, you know,” he told TV Guide Network’s Hollywood 411. “Is he gonna be like Hannibal Lecter? Is he gonna die? Is he gonna go to prison? There are so many choices. I think they picked the greatest one, and I’m not gonna tell you what it is.

As for his character? “It’s like being a dog,” he said. “They just do anything they want and get away with it. Bulldog, rottweiler, you name it. He’s a little poodle. He’s a Dalmatian. He’s a Doberman. He’s all of them.

Knepper says that he will miss the cast now that the show has ended family. “When you know the rapport with the guys and you feel it everyday for four years, that’s what I’ll miss,” he said. “We’ll have some new families, but [this] was a great family.
