Watch Prison Break!!
Oh no! It seems that Prison Break’s executive producer Matt Olmstead has admitted that the show may be axed in the near future.
With the poor ratings Olmstead told Entertainment Weekly that there’s a shelf life to serialized drama. “If this is the last season, we’re not mourning that because it’s been a great ride and we have a great season [ahead].”
IF the series is cancelled midway through this season, Olmstead says that they will have enough time to prepare an appropriate ending. “The season finale we have in mind could play as a season or series finale.”
That being said, Olmstead says that the show’s producers have “absolutely been encouraged by the response” to the fourth season. “It took a while to get the right idea… and to have the audience supporting it is very gratifying.”

i read this article awhile ago. apparently (in an interview with DP) the suits really like the show and want to see them keep going, so they may be able to finish and air a 22 episode season if the suits like it enough.

I cant believe they might get cancelled thats crazy. The show comes on at 9:00 and goes up against monday night football and the WWE. How fair is it that Prison Break fans have to suffer and get the show axed. I truly hope they at least give us the 22 episodes we were promised

I want it to be 5 seasons as well. Now, anybody who thinks theyr’e “dragging it on” is completly insane. Each season is a different story, the mission is never the same; and can go on for another year and half without hurting it period.
The simple solution is, if Prison Break is canned, we just speak our minds, get petitions signed, and watch the hell out of it, and Fox will have no choice.. ask Seth Mcfarlane and Family Guy. +)

I don’t understand why the ratings have been low.. I watch it every week!! I’m American and there are many people I know that watch the show and love it. I don’t think they will cancel it midway through, they need to think about their DVD sales. you better believe they will have tons of bonus features in the S4 DVD pack. They should also have include some missing footage from season three that has never been seen!! wouldn’t that be exciting? Let’s look at ‘24′, that show has been on since 2001!!! it missed last season as the writers strike forced them to purchase two 12-episode seasons and combine them into one. S7 for 24 should be airing soon. The point is, Jack Bauer has been running around in LA for like 8 years stopping major terrorist attacks, EVERY season. I’m sure their ratings are not as good as the first few seasons, but FOX keeps it’s commitment to it for some reason. Even though I love that show, PB is my all-time favorite. Fox will not cancel PB as it was said before, the corporate suits love the show. They love it enough to milk at least one last season out of it. I hope they will come back with a season five, then we will know for sure that people in the US love PB enough that they want to hold onto it forever!!!

Moreover, some people stopped watching PB coz they didn’t like S3. I believe that if these people find out what Olmstead said they will probably watch some of the next episodes just because of curiosity. If they like them then they’ll probably start watching it again!

I agree, they should move the show to a friday or something where there’s less-popular shows airing. I feel bad for the Europeans who can’t watch the show as it airs. I personally believe that it’s best to just forego the season and wait for the DVD, that way you can watch it all the way through without interruption. (crazy huh) There’s nothing more convincing to FOX than millions of people bothering them about their favorite shows. In our case, it would obviously be Prison Break. Their network would have no choice but to keep the show on the air, even with sub-par ratings WHO CARES!?!?! With PB’s impressive popularity and fanbase overseas, it is hands-down, no-contest, landslide victory over the network…. PRISON BREAK WILL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!!!

I feel like Matt Olmstead’s comments were sort of taken out of context a bit. He was asked what they would do if that were to happen, and he responded. I really don’t think they’d cancel it mid-season.
And I think the low ratings are due to 2 things…this show has a young demographic that downloads or TIVOs the show a lot. Plus, Monday’s are a difficult night. On Mondays, I am so hectic trying to play catch up from the weekend, that only my favorite show Prison Break could make me watch it on television instead of TIVOing it and watching later. I have never known anyone with a Nielson box…I’m staring to think of the neilsons like area 51…it may exist, but who knows for sure?

y’know, if it wasn’t for downloads, this show would probably have higher ratings in the US. I would tell my friend (who downloads PB everyweek) to stop downloading it. But he works the night shift at a Hotel and could not possibly watch the show on the air, so for PB fans who are unfortunate enough to be busy on Monday nights, they MUST download or they will not get their PB fix. I can understand people who download the eps. from overseas, but for people to do it here is insulting to the show. It’s like when you have a lot of favorite musical artists, but you don’t buy any of their albums, you just download the songs off the internet and put it on a mixtape. Sure you may love the artist and everything, but you do not support them if you pirate their music. Same with a show, if you love it, watch it on TV, that way they can get the proper respects that they deserve. This is only for the lazy people in the US who can watch it, but choose to download. It kinda pi$$es me off a little bit. y’know??

I think it is really strange that the ratings have dropped. Season 4 is really good, i even got the feeling of season 1 when i was watching episode 3 and 5.
The show is so much better this season, it’s a shame that people don’t watch it, even season 3 had more viewers with 7 or 8 million.
I’m from Europe (Holland) and i love the show, I download it, watch it on tv and have bought all the 3 seasons on DVD. Can’t get enough of intro song alone!

i think voula is right in that the fans are making a lot more noise about this than necessary (and ill admit im one of them lol). and your right roberta - theyre only talking about pb season 4 being the final season - not it being cancelled mid-way. but the original article has probably been taken and remolded by other members of the media just to get a rise out of people. if the suits at FOX really like the show the way they say they do than im sure we’ll get all 22 episodes.

Anyway, this is my 2-cents on it. I can’t help but think it’s because of these things and / or these things play a colossal role;
1 – Obviously downloading and therefore not watching it on tv has got to be #1-reason.
(People who call themselves ‘true PB-buffs’ have no right to call themselves ‘true fans’, but I’m losing the topic here..)
2 – SWC’s ‘death’ and her return .. The people saw her ‘die’ last Season, and that alone, made them quit watching AND there are people who saw her ‘revived to life’ - back on the show - , and cannot cope with a series that - in their view - ‘jumps the shark’. I know, you would think that this issue was talked about and that it was over, and, you know, “just-let-it-rest”, but .. We cannot try to convince these ignorant people that they didn’t kill her off, we tried to, over and over again, but … It just doesn’t work out…
3 – Surely PA’s ‘death’ on the 2nd Season-finale had to do with it. I have no idea as of how many Kellerman and Sara-fans there were, back during the first 2 Season’s, but …. ** it’s just a wild guess **
4 – (I think) a lot of people are ‘run-out’ on PB..They thought 2 or 3 Season’s were enough, and now with the 4th ongoing, they made the decision to watch other shows instead of PB .. 24, LOST, House, CSI, Law & Order … You name them..
5 – People have given up after last Season..(??)

I think the way that they do ratings is really out of date. With download, one gets to watch PB over and over again. With some tv shows, some people just want to watch the episode once and that’s it, but with PB, i personally watch one episode several times, with the downloads and with the DVDs of PB that i bought of each season. I think it really depends on what kind of tv show it is. When you have different means to watching the show and they are only counting one, it is not a true reflection of the whole picture. They should really count how many people are watching PB on the internet too.

I think that the petition would work… it worked for bringing Sarah back didnt it? I almost wonder if they are saying it might get cancelled just to see the fans reactions. I really like season 4 so far! Its amazing, I would say the best season yet…. and I think they could get away with a 5th season, I wonder if they do count the people that watch it in other countries… Im from Canada and I know a lot of people watch it here…. Maybe they should figure out a way to count the downloads in, that would definately boost up the ratings!! But yah, i would be in for doing a petition, I think its a great idea! but i also agree with Kristen, i think it should not be a season 5 BUT i ‘d like a FULL SEASON 4.
frankly, i am sure they won’t make a season 5, for many reasons :
1st i think Wentworth does not want to go on with a season 5, he wants to do something else ( he’s 36) even if he says repeatidly that he’s loyal.
2nd the ratings, even if i think it’s global. season 4 is better than 3, but still it’s repetitive?

Watch the show. Overseas it’s impossible to watch it on TV to bring up the ratings ,but you ALL can do so.

I believe if the FOX network plans to cut the season at 13 episodes (which I do not think will happen) that they would be losing out on literally millions of dollars. They will do the least they can do which is let the season run it’s full 22 episode coarse. I would hope that they bring the show back for another season, but I do not foresee that happening. The show’s already on the decline for viewer ratings in the U.S. (as everyone knows) and is nearing it’s end.
Unfortunately if the show does not go on into S5, then we will not be able to see our favorite characters, instead they will be released to other shows and make other movies. Pretty soon we will see them everywhere. Went is and has been in some movies in the past (the most unknown of his is ‘Stealth’ where he played the voice of the unmanned jetfighter EDI. and ‘Underworld’ where he played Scott Speedman’s friend at the hospital.) Robert Knepper was recently in ‘Hitman’ and played a cop. Amaury Nolasco has been in a few movies (Transformers, Street Kings, The Benchwarmers) Robert Fichtner will be starring in a new show on TNT (’night and day’) and has been in his share of movies dating back to the 90’s. Point being, we will still see the talented actors that played our favorite characters on the show and we won’t be able to help but think of them as the character they played on PB. Everytime I see someone from PB in something else I always go “OMG there he is!” or, “hey she was on PB.”
We will see them and automatilcally like who they’re trying to portray because the truth is you don’t want to be remembered for just playing ‘that one character’.
Do you think Went wants to be remembered as Michael Scofield the rest of his life? Or for Dom to be remembered as Lincoln, the bald one with the anger issues. No. we need to embrace the fact that this show will end one day and our favorite stars from it will go on to bigger and better things.

I wonder if FOX should have employees who’s sole purpose is to dig up comments and research, off the internet, on what people are actually thinking and talking about their shows. If they did then they would have someone looking into PBbuff and other PB fansites, and seeing all these comments about the overseas fans not being apart of the ratings but very much apart of the heart and soul of the show. As well as the other comments regarding the fact that WE ALL WANT THE SHOW TO CONTINUE!!!!!

Like i said before guys and gals..PB is one of the most downloaded shows on the web. Actually IT IS. If we can get Fox to see that via email or whatever then maybe we could get them to stream it live via the website or do what they did for Drive if they do cancel midseason. Stream the remaning episodes on there. [lus the DVR numbers are still strong.

Right Nadi, downloads don’t count, fox is surely not happy with the downloads because the networks abroad will negociate at lower price the show because of that, but here i blame the network globally that they can find a way to air the show or any shows for that matter around the same time.

Look, don’t quote me [it’s a little hard not to because we’re blogging, oh well] I think FOX knows that this is most likely the last season. They’ve never been big on cutting shows short before. This has been one of their biggest cash cows since ‘24′, they will give the show (and us) the proper respect and let it run it’s full season. I’ll tell you one thing though… The Series Finale better be the best episode ever..

we should ask Nikki to send all these positive responds to FOX!!! I think it will be a 22 season, as several sources including some cast members confirmed this before airing the first episode!!
Again, please do not panic, trust the writers and actors, let them know our support, but try not to let the media catch up on our panic!
Prison break is so popular overseas, millions of fans will be heart-broken if they decide to end it, send Fox mails, letters phone-calls, whatever, but let not be beaten by this!!!!
Oh Yeah, as this is a fansite, all you americans, post letters in magazines about the series, let people who do not watch know how great the series is, okay?

OH, By the way prison break actors are already on there 12th episode as i heard in a interview about a week back so i think if it does get cut midway we will possibly hear about it sometime soon. ): Hope it dosent though ♥x

It’d be great if the network let PB continue non-stop.
But i don’t mind if the stop mid-way, coz then the writers could have time to adjust a better finale.
But i seriously hope Matt Olmstead is wrong coz i would really love a season 5 and 6, as originally mapped out from day one of S1.
