Prison Break Spin-Off in the Works!
We’re now getting the latest scoop from the Fox TCA - and it seems that a Prison Break Spin-Off is definitely in the works!!
Matt Olmstead says that he and coexec producer Zack Estrin are right in the middle of rewriting the Prison Break spinoff. “We are finishing the script,” Olmstead told Kristin. “Then we’ll cast it, and then we’ll hopefully shoot it and get it on the air.”
The strike upset the original plan to introduce Molly and they couldn’t get their dream picks to move to Dallas, so Olmstead said the move to Los Angeles will help with the casting.
Estrin added, “The new show will be more like CSI Miami is to CSI and less a spinoff, because it will be a new character altogether.”
And the notion of someone breaking out of prison may be an element, but it is not going to be the focus of the show.
“It’s not an escape format, at least in the beginning,” Estrin says. “It’s like an undercover format. Someone who was being used inside for information to find things out and if anyone finds out what she’s doing, it’s a big, big problem. So it’s more of like a Departed format. We don’t want to do the same thing with breasts. There would be a different vibe and a different drive to the show. More like, ‘You don’t know who to trust.’”

Wait, isn’t CSI:Miami a spin-off from CSI:Crime Scene Investigation?
Horatio and his team did appear in one of the episodes.
And Mac Taylor and his team appeared in CSI:Miami.
They are still under the CSI franchise.
Except that CSI:NY was not a direct spin-off from CSI:Crime Scene Investigation.
If they’re not spin-offs, what are they?

I’m glad, a Prison Break spin-off is happening. But it all seems slightly rushed. It doesn’t air until 1st september. But oh well, these things take time.
The fact that Estrin mentioned it’s a whole nother dimension making the show a little like CSI:Miami is totally uncalled for. They should continue it as Prison Break like usual. DUH!

How are you? Im a little tired every day after work so I just can’t post the much I did before.
Going to watch this ‘Spin-Off’!
I am definitely going to watch at least the first episode to see what the writers make of it. And although you guys are now saying that you are not going to watch, I know that you are going to, because it is from the same genius writers as from the original Prison Break.
And the original Prison Break can’t stay forever, I think it’s good to have this spinoff.
I just hope that they don’t rush the script like PB s03 and do it like in s01.

I don’t think i’m gonna watch the spin-off either, i love PB, & i don’t think the writers are stupid enough to try & rip off PB, its just reading what i have, seems a little lame. I think there’s enough CSI type programmes out there already, i want something new. Like Reaper! I love that programme!! kevin Smith is such a good writer!

I’ve explained the point system about the exams at the Greek universities at another post! I’m sure that I’ve failed at the other two courses but it’s ok cause there’s always next time!
I wish I’ll pass at September cause the new semester starts at October and I don’t want to have to retake courses from the previous semesters at the new exams at January! I have faith!! :)
Oh yeah it was really hot today! I think it was about 35 degrees Celsius!

One, Went won’t be at this so the main motivation is gone!
Two, I’ll always compare it to PB so I won’t think it’s good! Maybe it will be, but the “winner” of this comparison will definitely be PB!

Horrible news! If this show is going to be a completely different vibe and scenario why does it have to be a spin-off?
The producers must be must not be confident that they can write another show that can match Prison Break’s success. So they are going to try to copy & paste a whole fan base. It COULD be a decent show; I don’t think anyone here denies the quality of production for PB. When the Cherry Hill rumor was floating around it seemed like a cheap attempt to lure a large demographic of female viewers (Mrs. Wentworth’s) into watching this new Spin-off with a woman as a their protagonist. It’s a poor tactless gimmicked promotion. It would be a struggle to green-light the new series without dragging a safety net of Prison Break fans who were left with an open/lousy ending.
I don’t want to watch it!!

A spinoff is a television series where the protagonist was introduced on an earlier show.
The best example right now would be Private Practice, where the main character, Dr. Addison Montgomery was introduced and was part of the cast of Grey’s Anatomy.

As for the case for Prison Break:Cherry Hill,
Yes it is related to Prison Break since the main female protagonist will be introduced towards the end of Prison Break Season 4.
It has something to do with prison break out, but not Prison Break (i.e. the characters and storyline of this spinoff will not involve the brothers and the conspiracy behind them).
I hope you got that, don’t get confused ya :)

The main character isn’t always introduced in the first TV show. For example, the spin-off of “Verliebt in Berlin” (the base of Ugly Betty) is about Lisa’s brother, but he didn’t appear in the first show.

i would definately watch it!! especially after how season 4 started! it was terrable!!! i think if they put sara in prison with michael helping to break hey out, that would be AWSOME!!!
