Taunting Bellick

McGrady is shooting some baskets. He knocks over some corn husks at Lechero’s feet. Lechero tells him to be more careful. Lechero pulls out something from the corn husks and walks away.

Michael approaches the new guy (Teague?) and asks if he really knows Whistler. The guy responds and says he thinks Whistler worked at the Ambassador hotel.

Michael, Mahone, and Whistler contemplate escape plans. Michael wants a ladder. Mahone asks where they are going to go once they get through the fence. Michael doesn’t answer and instead tells him to get the ladder.

Bellick approaches the new guy who begins talking loudly to the crowd around him. “I don’t want to have sex with you. Is that so hard to believe?”

Michael asks Lincoln to find out where the guard gets coffee and to put something in it. He says that they only have 3 hours to go. He says he wants the pictures. Lincoln tells him that Susan says they are fine, that there’s not enough time. Michael says that if he doesn’t see pictures of LJ and Sara by 3:30 that afternoon, he’s not going anywhere.

Susan’s Past

Susan goes into LJ’s room only wearing a nightshirt. She tells him that she was taken prisoner a couple of years ago when she was serving. She heard helicopters coming, she didn’t know it was a rescue mission. She ran. She didn’t know it was a hostage exchange and that her jumping was viewed as a hostile act. Six rangers died in the firefight. “For the next three weeks… let’s just say men are pigs.” She shows the scars on her legs. She tells LJ that this is an exchange and not to be a hero.

Lechero asks T-Bag if he has found out anything. T-Bag says it takes time, but maybe if Sammy stayed out of the way… Lechero gets angry and says he doesn’t need theories. He wants answers.

Lincoln steps into a car with Sucre and Sofia. He hands Sofia the empty coffee cup and she identifies the coffee shop.

A Way Out For Mahone?

Mahone exits to the fence. The FBI rep is there. She says she will get him out of there. The director is giving latitude in exchange for testimony regarding Lincoln Burrows. He’ll only have to serve eight years. He says he can’t but she responds, saying that without this deal he’ll be serving for the rest of his life.

Michael and Whistler play with the rope. Whistler says that if he doesn’t make it, please give the note to his girlfriend. They discuss more escape plans. As they chat, Lechero’s men carry out the new guy. He’s dead. Lechero lectures everyone in the courtyard, tells them that they have to go through the justice system or be punished. “If anyone has any information about this shameful act, I demand to know.” All eyes turn to McGrady. Lechero pulls him aside for more info. McGrady says he saw one person go under the stairwell and then he heard an argument.

Lechero’s men come into a cell and grab Whistler…

Michael follows them, saying that he is innocent. He then turns to Mahone and says that they need to figure out who the real killer is. Mahone doesn’t care. By 3:15 he’ll be gone.

Lechero as lechero

Whistler tells Lechero that he did not kill that man. He says he was framed. In turn Lechero tells him that when he was 13 his mother worked for a wealthy man as a maid. One day she was alone in the house … Everybody knew what he did, but because he was rich and they were immigrants, the police wouldn’t even take a report. A week later Lechero dressed as a milkman, a lechero, and made sure there was punishment.

Whistler says that he can’t go anywhere, so can they talk later. Lechero agrees but still won’t let him leave the room.

Michael goes on an investigation hunt and asks Bellick if he killed Teague. “I can’t even kill myself,” Bellick says.

A Way Out

Susan B. hands Lincoln some drugs. She is not happy that Sofia is working with Lincoln and that he didn’t confide in her. “Can you get anymore pictures of Sara?” he asks. “You didn’t tell him, you didn’t tell Michael that Sara is dead,” she says. “Smart move.”

Lincoln and Sucre hang out near the guards. They pull Sucre in. Captain Hurtado arrives and orders orange juice and coffee. Lincoln spills his coffee and then hands him the doctored one. Sofia asks Lincoln for a ride to Sona but he says he is going the other direction. Hurtado offers to give her a ride.

T-Bag tells Michael to blame the murder on Sammy. T-Bag pulls out Sammy’s ring and tells Michael to drop it in the blood and then announce it for everyone to hear. “You want to save your friend’s life? Someone else has to die.”

Trying to get out of his predicament, Whistler tells Lechero that he has answered all his questions and that if Lechero kills him and everyone figures out that he killed an innocent man, that wouldn’t look good for Lechero.

Hurtado hits on Sofia and tells her that he can get her into Sona for a special favor. Lincoln parks nearby and pulls out his gun. Susan B. calls and says that she has a picture of Sara. “Norman has a terrible temper,” Sofia smiles. “Your man is Lechero?” Hurtado asks and he backs away. Sofia is able to switch the coffee cups. Lincoln is still on the phone with Susan… he accidentally lets on that they are drugging the guards. “Why are you drugging the guard now when you are escaping tonight?” She storms out.

Michael finds a knife under Mahone’s mattress. He approaches Mahone about the murder but Mahone denies it. Michael runs off after Mahone denies.

Change of Plans

Susan B. walks into LJ’s room and starts taking out some deathly equipment. “Your father tried to be a hero,” she says. LJ starts whimpering. “Once I sever the spinal cord you won’t feel a thing.” He cries out no no. With a knife to his neck the phone rings. “Susan, I’m sorry,” Lincoln says as she answers. She puts the phone up to LJ’s ear. “They’re going to kill me,” LJ screams into the phone. “The truth,” says Susan as she pulls the phone away. Lincoln tells her everything about escaping early.

Mahone talks to the Feds again. They got the years down to four, but only after he speaks to the special prosecutor to make sure his story is enough for testifying.

Michael goes to Lechero and shows the knife. “I found this in Alexander Mahone’s cell.” Lechero smiles. Mahone exits the prison. Just in time. “Convenient,” Lechero says to Michael. They argue. “You’re making a mistake. This is murder,” Michael yells. Lechero grabs Whistler and stabs. “Don’t!” Michael yells. Lechero stabs one of his guys instead. He found a cigar in the courtyard. Unfortunately the cigar was Sammy’s. Lechero killed the wrong guy. And then he strings him up for everyone to see.

Michael Learns the Truth

Susan B. and Lincoln talk in the car. Susan hands over the pictures. Lincoln says it’s the same paper that she was holding before. Susan doesn’t care and says that she’s done doing favors.

Michael gets upset when he learns that Lincoln told Susan that they were breaking out early. “We’re playing this one straight. No games. No surprises,” Lincoln says. Michael asks him for the pictures. “I can’t show you the pictures man,” Lincoln says. “Why not?” Michael asks. “She’s dead Michael. I lied to you. I’m sorry.”

Michael tears up and walks away. Lincoln yells after him. “We’ve got to do this. Michael!”

We see Michael staring at the picture of Sara, crying in the hallway. He slides down, his back against the wall. He numbly walks out into the courtyard. “Sara’s dead,” he tells Whistler. “They killed her.” Whistler says that he’s sorry. “I loved her. Now she’s gone,” Michael says. “And it’s all because of you.” Michael pulls out the chicken bone and throws it on the ground.

“This man is no friend of mine,” Michael yells at Whistler. Lechero tells them both to get their belongings, pray to their Gods and to come back in 15 minutes. Whistler shakes his head and walks away.

Sucre mails off some money and a picture of himself to Maricruz with a note “For the Baby”. Lincoln arrives to the hotel room and starts packing up.

Mahone sits in the car in a deep sweat. “So with this deal, what specifically are they expecting from me?” he asks. They say they want to know everything and want a cooperative witness. “You have full immunity,” they say.

Whistler walks down the hall. Michael pulls him aside and says that he’s not going to kill him. They just need a diversion. “Listen Michael, I meant what I said about Sara,” Whistler says. Michael says that he wants to get out, find out who took her life, and take theirs.

Everything starts falling into place. The clocks hit 3:00. The guard drinks his coffee. Michael walks down the hall. Bellick shows up. “Is it true about Sara?” he asks. “Yes,” Michael says. “I’m sorry. I mean it. She was a good person,” Bellick replies, getting teary. Poor Bellick…

Lincoln stops the car and opens the hood. He walks away, leaving Sofia.

Susan B pulls up somewhere with LJ, bound and gag with electrical tape. LJ keeps talking. Susan tells him to be quiet.

Michael pulls some more MacGyver moves. The crowd begins to roar as he attacks the window.

In the van Mahone learns that it’s not a done deal like he thought… Some of the Panamanians have backed out and now they are going to take him to a hotel. Mahone seems to be having second thoughts… Little does he know he would have died if he had stayed in Sona once Michael coughed up the knife.

Escape Gone Wrong

Michael says that he’ll go first through the window in case he gets shot. He says his life isn’t worth anything without Whistler.

Hurtado passes out in his tower. Michael watches the countdown but there is no glare on the other tower. Suddenly it appears and they start to dismantle the window. Sammy walks through. He pulls some money out of his matchbook.

Michael throws out the ladder and begins climbing down. Whistler wishes him luck and then he climbs down himself. A cloud starts to cover the sun. “We’re losing light,” Michael says. “Go back. Go Back!”

They both start climbing up. Michael makes it up just as the guard sips some water and Whistler pulls up the ladder. “That was our only chance,” Michael says. “Dammit.”

Time for a Fight

The crowd gets rowdy. They want a fight. Michael tells Lechero that it’s been a terrible mistake. “We worked it out,” Whistler says. Lechero doesn’t care. He says they know the rules. Two men go in, one man comes out. They push Michael and Whistler to the center of the crowd as everyone starts chanting “fight”. Oops!

Whistler hits Michael. Michael returns the punch.

Lincoln is on the beach. Sucre is spying on LJ and Susan. Sofia pulls out a gun as she watches Lincoln digging…

Michael and Whistler continue their fight. The crowd jumps in every time they try to take a break. Meanwhile their ladder slowly begins to droop back down the wall.

Sofia aims the gun at Lincoln. She says that he can’t turn Whistler over to those people.

The guard notices that Hurtado isn’t at his tower. The rope ladder falls back down the outside of the prison wall.

The fight continues. Lechero threatens to kill them both if they don’t get busy. Whistler grabs a rock. “God forgive me,” he says. Just as he lowers his hand, the alarm goes off. Lincoln packs up on the beach. Susan B looks around. That sound must travel for miles! The guards all run into the prison as the prisoners drop to their knees in the courtyard.

Gunshots All Around

Susan B calls Lincoln and asks where they are. She says she heard the alarm. Lincoln says they got out and they are in the car with him. “Put Whistler on the phone,” Susan says. “He’s in the trunk,” Lincoln tells her.

The guards say that they know the escape was from cell #212. They turn to Lechero and say that the cell belongs to one of his gang. When nobody steps up, the guard asks a prisoner if it’s his cell. He refuses to answer and is shot. “I’ll take this as an answer.” They then lecture Lechero and in front of everyone tell him that perhaps he isn’t suited for the job of keeping order and then walk out of the prison again.

Susan B. gets a phone call. They took a headcount at the prison and nobody escaped. She packs up the van and takes off. Sucre parks his car in their path and they collide. We see Sucre with his head on the steering wheel as Lincoln comes speeding up. He strides up to the van. Susan B. holds her head. Lincoln shoots the driver and holds a gun to Susan. The other guy steps out of the van, holding LJ at gunpoint. Susan tells the guy to shoot her. “It doesn’t matter what you do to me. The operation failed,” she says. He lets go. “Give me one more shot,” he tells her. “We can still get Whistler. We can make this happen. We can do this.” Susan puts LJ in the van and off they go.

Lincoln runs up to Sucre who opens his eyes. Lincoln notices body bags on the ground.

Lechero asks Michael if he plans on escaping the prison. Michael says no. Lechero asks him again and Michael says no. Lechero says, “You are breaking out of this prison Mr. Scofield. And you’re taking me with you.”

Mahone begins having a meltdown in the hotel room. They tell him that they need to wait until morning before the hearing. “It needs to happen right now,” Mahone yells. They cuff him.

Susan B. talks to Whistler at the fence. She says that she thought he needed to get out in seven days. He says that if he’s out in four more days he can still do it. “Trust me, it’ll be fine,” he says. “Gretchen… what about Sofia?”

Michael is spying out the window at this little exchange.
