Episode 3.05

Recap

The New Guy

Michael tests the motion detector by throwing out some tinfoil to a rat. The guards shoot the rat. Doesn’t bode well for escaping.

Mahone exits to the courtyard and has a chat with Michael. He says he looks forward to progress with the plan. Michael says he looks forward to Mahone getting off his back.

A new guy enters the yard. He gets attacked and Mahone tells Michael that he’s ready to get out. Bellick looks pretty darn nervous from the sidelines.

Michael meets with Lincoln, who tells him that Susan B has the book and that she showed him pictures of LJ and Sara, but wouldn’t let him keep them. Michael seems placated by the thought. He says that he wants a van parked by 3:00 pm the next day. He says he can’t make an escape that night. It’s impossible. “We’re doing this tomorrow, in the middle of the day.”

The new guy knows Whistler.

Strategy

Michael asks McGrady for a watch and binoculars. McGrady directs him to Guillermo saying that they shouldn’t be hard to get. Michael meanders over to the cell. “We’re leaving tomorrow,” he tells Whistler. He draws a map in the dirt. He says we’re going to need rope to get out the other side, then there’s a safe line to the hole in the fence. There’s a soccer game at 2:00 to provide distractions. There’s also some reflection by the sun that will affect the guard’s vision. Now they just need the other guard.

Lincoln and Sofia talk exit strategy. Susan B. phones and says she thinks she the brothers are in over their heads. “There’s a bad joke about Sara somewhere in there.” Ouch!

Sucre is approached b a car. They get out of the car and tell him that they had an arrangement with his predecessor and they need him to deliver something inside the prison, for five thousand dollars. Sucre says he thinks he could do it.

Bellick approaches new guy and gives him some cheese. Michael doesn’t look too thrilled. He tells Whistler to watch the guard and get Mahone if need be.

Lechero tells T-Bag to take a break. He then starts making out with the nun and directs her into his “office”.

Whistler notices the glare from the sun – it forces the guard to the other side of the tower. Whistler throws down a ball and the guard doesn’t even flinch.

Michael figures out that the second guard is a sports fan and says that they can build something to transmit signals. The new guy eavesdrops on the conversation and then tries to take off. Mahone bumps into him and starts asking questions. Tells him to mind his own business.

Sofia and Lincoln are driving. They are stopped by armed guards who say that the road is private and not for tourists. Sofia talks to them and then they leave. “Time for Plan B,” Lincoln says.

Whistler finds some rope. Michael asks him why it’s so important to get him out tomorrow and Whistler says he doesn’t know.

Lincoln purchases a cooler and supplies from a dive shop. He spends $99.25. He also asks how far out the international waters are.

Sucre buries the package in some food. Someone stops him and asks if he has read the rulebook. He tells him to read it again after Sucre says yes.

Whistler seems concerned about The Company… thinks that they’ll kill him as soon as they get what they want. The guards deliver the food.

Mahone starts sweating and hallucinating. He stares out in the courtyard. He sees something interesting but we don’t see it.

Michael takes apart a microwave while talking about electromagnetic pulses. They plug it in and everything is shorted. The guard is distracted. Michael turns back to look at the guard and sees a gun pointed in his direction. The guard shoots.

Tension in the Courtyard

McGrady appears, says that the guards are coming in. Lechero leaves the nun with T-Bag, says not to let the guards see her. Everyone runs down to the courtyard, on their knees with their hands in their area. An alarm goes off.

They say that they saw a rifle scope in the prison, that there must be a gun and that they are going to find it.

Lincoln and Sofia stroll down a long sandy beach. Sofia lays back in the sand while Lincoln stares at her and digs a hole.

The guards continue to search the prison. T-Bag hides with the nun in the closet. He shhs her while the guards step closer. She trembles.

The guards find the scope and chain up the cell. They ask whose cell it is. “It’s mine,” Michael says. “It’s not a weapon,” Michael says before he gets slapped across the face. The guard points a gun at his head and says, “Why are you watching me?”

“I wasn’t watching you,” Michael says. The guard starts counting backwards from five in Spanish. “It’s mine,” Whistler says. He says that he was watching birds. He takes out his book and shows the guard. Michael grabs the scope off the ground. When he runs up to his cell he finds It locked. He tries to grab the cord to the microwave. “Please, please, please, come on,” he says.

T-Bag tells the nun that she needs to look pretty for Lechero. He helps her clean up. She takes some money from Lechero but accidentally drops it when Lechero comes in and grabs her hand. T-Bag steps forward. He says that he lent her the money to get home safely. Lechero punches him.

Getaway Vehicle

Lincoln is still digging in the sand. Sofia throws him a water. Lincoln tells her that everything will be okay … if Whistler doesn’t play any games. Lincoln shows her something in the cooler. “Our getaway vehicle,” he says. He tells her to tell Whistler that they are all a team and they’re all in this together.

New Plan

The next morning Sucre is handed a cigar and his five thousand dollars. He is also given another package. Sucre tries to decline but it’s obvious they don’t take no for an answer.

The new guy approaches Whistler. “You’re McFadden, right? Nice, 1997. You were with the ambassador.” Whistler says that the guy is mistaken.

Mahone leads Michael and Whistler up to a window. The guard throws down an empty cup. Mahone says that he has one every day.

“There’s a bad joke about Sara somewhere in there.” Ouch!” - what does this mean? For me, as a non-English speaking nationality, these words make me think that Sara was not killed..huh?

What a cool episode that was!! I feel like the show has gone back to the way it was in Season 1 - so exciting! I love when Michael uses his brain.. and I like to see Mahone and Whistler helping him along the way, similar to how Abruzzi and Sucre helped back in the good old days!

Inka, Susan B says that they are in over their heads… as Sarah doesn’t have a head anymore, that’s what the bad joke refers to.

bERd, they realize that the guard drinks his cup of coffee or whatever every day before he takes up his shift, and that he’s addicted to it. Therefore if he doesn’t have it, either he won’t be as vigilant, or he’ll simply freak out and there will be delays in the change in guard.

And Nikki, it’s Michael who asks for the binoculars

However, thanks for the recap, and keep up the good job!
