Episode 02.17 Review
Sara and Michael had to take off from the club before getting whatever was in the box that her dad left. But Michael sees that Pope is a member of the club and they decide to pay him a visit. Pope is none too thrilled, not surprisingly, when Michael shows up at the door! He seems to have a change of heart when he hears Sara’s story but then threatens to call the cops. Michael pulls out a gun and says that he can’t let Pope do that. It was an interesting turn when Michael put down the gun and spun it toward himself saying “what happens if I’m on this side of the gun?” Michael asks Pope to take a ten minute drive with them and then he can decide on his own whether Lincoln is guilty. Pope says he doesn’t care, that it doesn’t involve him … but that he is a man of the law and has a convicted felon in his house. Michael says that maybe there’s something he can offer. Wonder what it is!
Mahone has a little chat with his kid. Makes you feel slightly bad for him. But not too bad.
T-Bag takes the family on a drive to his home, a desolate looking house in who knows where! And what a dump. Graffiti, dust, trash, and a worn tattered thesaurus. The book initiates some flashbacks and little T-Bag recites the synonyms for “destroy” for his dad and his friends. Dad seems awfully prowd of his bookworm son. Of course then we see a little more of dad’s affection than is appropriate or acceptable. Some explanation for the current state of affairs.
Poor Sucre is driving through Mexico when the car stalls … runs out of gas … something. He flags down a passing car, who just so conveniently is headed toward Puerta Vallarto. Of course the driver works for airport security and is headed there to intercept some American fugitives!
C-Note stops by the hospital for DeeDee, but they won’t help her. Mahone pulls up and C-Note runs through the hospital, hopping on a tram. Mahone won’t pull the trigger because C-Note is holding DeeDee in his arms. The doors close and C-Note at least has some more time on his hands.
Kim receives word that Sara visited her father’s private humidor and he immediately books a flight to Chicago. Guess we’ll have a meetup of the masses? Can’t wait to see the interaction with Kellerman!
Sucre arrives at the airport and barely manages to maneuver himself away from the security guard before the guard sees a picture of him. He finds Maricruz and they jump into a taxi. Everyone seems to be escaping just in time this episode!
Pope takes the key and enters the club. Michael and Sara share a cute interaction and plan a real date. Pope meanders on back to the private humidors and pulls out what appears to be a usb flash device.
T-Bag sits Susan down and has a heart-to-heart chat with her. Tells her that he is karma gone wrong, that he can’t procreate and that he comes from a tainted line. Says that he loves her and wants to do right with her children. She says she can’t and evil T-Bag is back. Next scene we see him sitting outside while Susan is at the window crying. His eyes flick to an axe. EEK.
C-Note visits another medical fecility, this one where nobody seems to care and the physician is smoking! He drops $400 to get her seen. You can’t help but hope that she gets some medication and assistance.
Pope exits the building and the excitement builds until Kim pulls up. The timing of this man is impeccible! Kim flashes his gun and tells him to hand over whatever he found. Michael drives the car around and runs Kim over! Just as Kim reaches for the fallen gun Lincoln arrives to knock him out. Kellerman shoots Kim’s driver and runs up to jump in the getaway car. But a bitter Sara locks the door and they drive away.
A terrified Susan and her children hear a pounding on the bomb shelter they are contained in. It seems T-Bag decided to set them all free and called the authorities. We see then him crying on the side of the road.
C-Note finds out that DeeDee is very ill and the physician wants to insert a catheter in her neck. At the very last second C-Note says he can’t do it and carries her away. Crying he tells her he loves her with all his heart and he’s so sorry. He calls Mahone to turn himself in, as long as his wife goes free. He even offers up a bargain - Michael. The next scene we see is Mahone in DeeDee’s hospital room and he learns his wife is on the way. As Mahone leads him away a little part of me wonders if he’s going to kill him like all the rest of the fugitives!
Back at Pope’s house, Michael tells Lincoln and Sara his promise - if Pope went to the club, he’d turn himself in. But Pope hands him the device, tells him to go and listen to it.
